Cola Wars Marketing Video/Project
This is one of my favorite lessons in Journalism 1. Students create a list of marketing strategies of Coke and Pepsi. After the video, we talk about what each company did to sell their product. We even blind taste test Coke and Pepsi. There’s a short quiz after the video for a grade, but the major project afterward is for yearbooks. In groups students must come up with a marketing campaign for this year’s yearbook. I give a folder of photos and cover graphics to each group. Using Canva, Animoto, Adobe Spark and other programs, the students must have 15-20 items to market and a plan of how to get the word out about buying a yearbook.
In my independent study class, we edited our senior ad proofs. Our next deadline is next week. All portrait pages are due. Tomorrow, we’ll look at the process of all pages.
