Feature Writing

Finally! After a brief break for Laws and Ethics, Journalism 1 is writing a story.

Journalism 1

Today, we did a short recap (using Jenny Deadline) on law and ethics. I’m not sure where I got this comic. I’ve been using it for years. I’m horrible, sorry. It’s a great class opener for discussion. Well, except for my 1st period. They weren’t quite awake yet.

I use ILPC’s PowerPoint on Feature Writing to show the basic structure of the story. Then they spend a lot of time reading and dissecting stories we’ve posted on www.therideronline.com. Today’s “take-home message to stick on the fridge” is: Show, Don’t Tell.
